NIGERIA, A COUNTRY WHERE HUMAN LIVES AND PROPERTIES ARE NEGLECTED BY THE LEADERS By: Akura Sparkling.

INTRODUCTION

Leadership is both a research area and a practical skill encompassing the ability of an individual or organization to "lead" or guide other individuals, teams , or entire
organizations .

Specialist literature debates various viewpoints, contrasting Eastern and Western approaches to leadership, and also (within the West) United States versus European approaches.

U.S. academic environments define leadership as "a process of social influence in which a person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task ".

Leadership seen from a European and nonacademic perspective encompasses a view of a leader who can be moved not only by communitarian goals but also by the search for personal power .

Leadership is a matter of intelligence, trustworthiness, humaneness, courage, and discipline .

Other historical views of leadership have addressed the seeming contrasts between secular and religious leadership.

Christian thinking on leadership has often emphasized stewardship of divinely provided resources human and material and their deployment in accordance with a Divine plan.

Historical Background of Benue State

Benue state was created on February 3, 1976. It was one of the seven new states created by the military administration headed by late General Murtala Muhammed, which increased the number of states in the federation from twelve to nineteen. The state derives its name from the River Benue which is the second largest river in the country and the most outstanding geographic feature in the state.

At creation, the state comprised three local governments in the Tiv-speaking areas, namely Gboko, Katsina-Ala, and Makurdi; one (Otukpo) in the Idoma-speaking areas and three (Ankpa, Idah and Dekina) in the Igala-speaking areas, which were excised from Kwara state.

Today, however, with the creation of more states and local governments in 1991, the Igala-speaking local govrnments were excised to form part of the present Kogi state.

Presently, Benue has twenty-three local governments, with the Tiv speaking area having fourteen while the Idoma-Igede area.

LOCATION

The state’s geographic location in the country is quite unique: it lies roughly in the middle of the country and shares boundaries with six other states:

Nassarawa to the North, Taraba to the East, Kogi and Enugu states to the West and Ebonyi and Cross-River states to the South. It also shares an international boundary with the Republic of Cameroun on the South-East.

Benue state has a landmass of 33,955 square kilometers and lies between Latitudes 6.5° and 8.5° North and Longitudes 7.47° N and 10 East.

THE PEOPLE

The state comprised of several ethnic groups: Tiv, Idoma, Igede, Etulo, Abakpa, Jukun, Hausa, Akweya and Nyifon. The Tiv are the dominant ethnic group, occupying 14 local government areas, while the Idoma and Igede occupy the remaining nine local government areas.

Most of the people are farmers while the inhabitants of the riverine areas engage in fishing as their primary or important secondary occupation.

The people of the state are famous for their cheerful and hospitable disposition as well as rich cultural heritage.

CULTURE

Benue State possesses a rich and diverse cultural heritage which finds expression in colourful cloths, exotic masquerades, supplicated music and dances.

Traditional dances from Benue State have won acclaim at national and international cultural festivals.

The most popular of these dances include Ingyough, Ange, Anchanakupa, Swange and Ogirinya among others.

NEGLIGENCE OF LIVES PROTECTION AND PROPERTIES OF NIGERIAN CITIZENS BY ITS LEADERS

The lives and properties of the citizens of this country is a case which this write up metamorphosis nor emphasized.

In the case of Benue state where the emphasis of this write up is been focused is been neglected by the President otherwise FG of this Nation called Nigeria.

In the early this year, over 73 people were murdered in cold blood which was reported to the Security agencies likewise the FG in writing by our sleepless governor His Excellency, Gov. Samuel Ortom.

No ear ,has been listen nor eyes has been seen into it despite the effort which our governor is doing in bringing peace in the state.

After a month of the 73 massacre, over 29 people were still murdered in Okpokwu local government in Benue state and as usual our caring governor has sent another letter to the same agencies including the FG what we get is to sent the senseless IGP to Benue.

Upon coming to Benue state by IGP we only received insults when he gets back to Abuja, what we here is "What is happening to Benue State is communal clashes " which is an insult to our governor and the good abiding citizens of Benue State.

The killings still continues, and later heard the pronouncement of the arrival of the operation Ayem Akpatuma (Cat Race) one month before it's arrival to enable the Fulani herdsmen go out of the state inorder to be back after there operations to continue its killings.

This is simply genocide and Jihadist agenda which is taken into consideration by the incumbent President of the country if not why is the incessant killings without prompt actions?

If this people are terrorist from Libya trained by Gaddafi ,the question are:

1. How manage does they enter into the country?

2. Who are there sponsors?

3. As the leader of this nation, how did you secure your borders?

4. As you now know are from outside, what makes you slow in declaring them terrorists and be treated as one?

In Benue leadership, only few of the leaders have the citizens at heart to mention but few Gov. Samuel Ortom,HRM Orchivirigh Prof. James Iorzua Ortese Ayatse, Hon. Yisa Orker Jev, Chief Edward Ujege, Engr.Dr. Terlumun Utsev, Prof. Wole Soyinka,Wantaregh Paul Iorpuu Unongo,Mr Terver Akase, Mr Targema Bem, Comr.Ama Moses, Comr. Iorshe Terkimbi Iorshe and host of others who there names are not included here but said there minds both on Radio stations, TV stations, and the Internet.

I want to categorically states here that, some of the Nigerian leaders are for themselves and for the people.

Today at one of the IDP camps at Daudu a mother lost her one and only child due to lack of proper medical attention, but what some of our leaders are up to is to endorsed people for second term, attend political rallies etc.

Upon whole of this killings they are less concerned about the people who they pretend they are ruling over.

May God disgrace those who are refusing vehemently or neglected to protect the lives and properties of the citizens but tend to be selfish.

RECOMMENDATIONS

I want to recommend the governor of Benue State, His Excellency Dr Samuel Ortom over his good efforts in taking the killings of his people at heart as his personal business, may God guide and protect you and give you more wisdom and strength to be strong in carrying out your duties as a true leader to show the difference.

I want to also thank those who voiced there ill feelings over the continuous killings by this morons both in Newspapers, Radios, Tvs and the Internet may God bless you and help you to do more.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, am calling on the international community to intervene into the incessant killings in Nigeria to see the lives and properties of the citizens more important than any other thing.

If there no citizen there will be no leadership.
Thank you and God bless.

ONLY THOSE WHO DON’T KNOW THE MEANING OF FAILURE WILL VOTE FOR APC AGAIN IN 2019 – GUMI

Sheikh (Dr) Ahmad Abubakar Gumi has declared the President Muhammadu Buhari APC-led administration as a failure.

The Islamic scholar said this in his assessment of Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last two years.

He noted that the general assessment of government’s performance was below the expectation of Nigerians, and urged Nigerians to reject both the APC and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) if they really desire a new lease of life.

POPULAR NEWS: Buhari has created another system of corruption – Emir Sanusi

His words: “The problem is that no matter how good you are as a leader, you should have a team. If you put Maradona in a bad team, no one will pass the ball to him in order to score a goal. The APC government has failed for lack of a team”.

“Every failure has reasons. When a patient dies in the hospital, there is usually a post mortem examination to determine the direct cause of death. We have symptoms but they may not be the cause of death.

“The widespread suffering in the country is a symptom of an underlying disease afflicting the nation that needs to be tackled. But if the government has been listening all along, it could have alleviated the problem or it could have done more than it is doing.

“I can imagine somebody who has nothing. How is he surviving? How is he paying his children’s school fees? How can he treat his children when they are sick? How can he feed? So, when you look at all these indices, you will know that it is a miracle that we are still existing.

“So, if we want to do a post mortem on this government, you have to look far beyond the inception of the administration. Like I said, they inherited some of the defects and the solution would have been to manage Nigeria as a critically ill patient”.

Gumi, a medical doctor, also stated that Nigeria is not united. He said the APC took over a divided country and that what political scientists needed to do at that time was to design a template without dividing Nigeria.

“Now, there is too much hostility and bad blood in the country. All I know is that all Nigerians are one. What we need was someone to correct us”, he told New Telegraph.

“This is the time to bring people together, the kind of leader that Nigeria needs at this critical time is the one that can pacify. Not one that will show that he is clean and the other person is dirty. No. He should show that we are all dirty, let us all come and clean ourselves.

“So, the so-called clean party which has the broom, who is it trying to sweep? It is so antagonistic. It is so provocative that it has divided the country. If your house is also dirty, you cannot clean someone’s house. People thought that change is coming when it was not possible to effect that change.

Gumi fumed that top officials were getting away with stealing and corruption and cited examples.

“The allegations of corruption are already been made against the (suspended) Secretary to the Government of the Federation, of a government that is fighting corruption. And the government cannot do anything besides suspension.

“The present administration came to rule Nigeria using the slogan of war against corruption and this is disrupting the unity of the country. The unity of the country is more important than the money that people stole; more important than the current underdevelopment that we are witnessing”.

Asked the way out of Nigeria’s problems, Sheikh Gumi advised that before 2019, politics has to change completely and drastically.

“No more APC or PDP”, he declared, adding that “once they continue, Nigeria’s problems will continue. What I am saying is that they should metamorphose, they should change. When you see a butterfly, there was a time when it was a larva.

“The parties have to change; PDP has to change, APC has to change or it will break because it is an alloy which is not well moulded. We want these parties to change because of the future of our children.

“The major defect of APC is that it is a party which was grown by the power of individuals; Buhari in the North and Tinubu in the South West. And there is danger in this kind of politics. Look at Mugabe now, he has suppressed and pinned down everybody in Zimbabwe and he has been winning elections in quote.

“If we continue along this path, Nigeria will be like that. When we have somebody who feels that he is the Messiah, then we are in trouble because as I am speaking to you now, not everybody in the North can speak to you like this.”

MY MESSAGE TO PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI ON THE VISIT OF MIYETTI ALLAH CATTLE BREEDERS OF NIGERIA.

Mr President, the miyetti Allah visited you on Saturday 19th May 2018 demanding you to intervene or stop the Anti-Open grazing prohibition law enacted by the Benue State government.

Mr President I want to use this medium to tell you without fear of anything that, you have no constitutional powers to stop any law which is duely passed under the law, step by step law which has been examined before passed.

In case Mr President if you don't know the meaning of this very law "Anti-Open grazing prohibition law " here is the simple meaning.

"This very law does not stop the Fulani's in doing there business, it does not intervene into there economic activities, but this law says, "You should not carry cattle along in order not to destroy farms lands, but you should ranch your cattles in one place if you want to engaged into cattle business ".

This is the simple meaning of this law.
Mr President, I want to tell you that, nobody in Benue State, not the governor nor the House of Assembly or the stake holders in the state has sent the Fulani's out of the state.

Mr President I want to categorically tell you that, you cannot tell the people of Benue State what Law that will be best for them and best for there good living.

Mr President, you are not the governor of Benue State, neither you are one of the stake holders in Benue State but you are only the President of Nigeria which Benue state is a state in Nigeria.

Mr President can somebody come to your house at Daura, Katsina State and tell you what and what should be done in your house?.

Mr President, will you go to America and make laws for them?.

Mr President, the law of Sharia as practiced by your people, who is against it?.

Mr President, I want to tell you that, what is suitable for Benue State is the "Anti-Open grazing prohibition law" which is best for Benue citizens.

Mr President, for example, you travelled to London for treatment or medical checkup, and the law is been enacted that, you must killed your child before you will be treated in the hospital what will you do?

I guess Mr President you will said "NO" I will rather go back to another country which don't have such law.

So Mr President, I want to tell you that, Benue state is not fenced if the law is not suitable for the Fulanis to carry out there cattle business, then they are free to move out of the state.

There is an adirge in Tiv Land that says, "Ka wea va hi mba ior vea tilen sha vea yaan kwaghyan yo, we kpa ka u zahemen utile sha u ya kwagh yan ave imongo "

So Mr President, you don't have the powers to stop or tell what is good for Benue State because:

1. Benue is not your state.

2. You are not the governor of Benue state.

3. You are not the law makers in Benue State.

4. You are not a member of the stakeholders in Benue State.

In conclusion Mr President, you have no right to stop the law in Benue State.

ANY MAN THAT CAN HANDLE HIS PHONE WELL, CAN HANDLE HIS WIFE BEST.

1)YOU ARE ALWAYS SCARED TO STAY AWAY FROM YOUR PHONE FOR JUST A DAY:- Let your wife also see that you don't want to stay away from her even if it's for a day.

2) YOU HATE TO SEE YOUR PHONE STAY WITHOUT MONEY (airtime). You should also hate to see your wife stay without money.

3)BECAUSE YOU ARE SO USED TO YOUR PHONE, YOU SOMETIMES PREFER IT TO A NEW ONE NO MATTER HOW SOPHISTICATED IS THE NEW. Value your wife above any woman out there, no matter how good looking she is.

4) YOU ARE ALWAYS HAPPY WHEN YOUR PHONE BATTERY IS FULL AND STRONG, AND EVEN WHEN IT IS RUNNING DOWN YOU DON'T HESITATE TO CHARGE IT. Your wife sometimes becomes physically weak by ensuring everything goes well in the house. Keep her strong emotionally by your kind words and assist with the house chores where necessary; by doing this you would make her full of energy to face what lies ahead.

5) YOU FEEL TERRIBLE WHENEVER YOUR PHONE SLIPS FROM YOUR HAND TO THE GROUND. Feel same whenever anything hurts your wife.

6) WHENEVER YOU ARE USING YOUR PHONE TO MAKE A SERIOUS CALL, YOU ALWAYS WANT TO STAY AWAY FROM DISTRACTIONS. Treat your wife the same way when discussing serious issues.

7) YOUR PHONE CONTAINS SO MUCH INSIDE; YOUR CONTACTS, CODES, MEMORABLE PICTURES ETC, HENCE THE VALUE YOU PLACE ON IT. Your wife has some treasures hidden in her, please value her.

8) SOMETIMES WHEN THE OUTER CASING OF YOUR PHONE FADES, YOU FEEL EMBARRASS TO HOLD IT IN PUBLIC. Always ensure your wife looks good wherever she goes, remember, she is said to be the glory of the man.

9) WHENEVER YOUR PHONE HAS A PROBLEM, YOU BECOME UNAVAILABLE TO YOUR CALLERS. Let your wife's problems make you unavailable to anything needing your attention, until she is alright.

10) YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE WHEN YOUR PHONE MOUTHPIECE IS HAVING A PROBLEM. Let it also disturb you when your wife couldn't get what you are saying, then look for a better way to fix it until she can gets you.

Benue killings: I’m prepared to step down — Osinbajo Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/05/benue-killings-im-prepared-step-osinbajo/

Makurdi—Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said he was prepared to step down from his position at anytime since he did not solicit to become Vice President, noting the position meant nothing to him. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN Osinbajo, who addressed Benue stakeholders, Tuesday night, in Makurdi, shortly after visiting IDPs camps for victims of herdsmen crisis in the state, was reacting to statements by Catholic Bishop of Gboko, Most Rev. William Avenya, who had alleged that the vice president had been mute in the face of killings, oppression of smaller tribes and the palpable fear of an Islamic agenda by the present government. The vice president said: “My Lord Bishop, you said you are not a politician, I am also not a politician. As a matter of fact, I am also a priest and I’m a Christian, a born again Christian. Because I am a born again Christian, my destiny is not determined by any man but by God who I serve. “Let me assure you that under no circumstance, none whatsoever, will I give up my faith or refuse to stand up for my faith. You can take that to the bank. “Even the position that I currently occupy, I did not ask for it and I’m prepared to leave it at a short notice. It doesn’t mean anything. I became a born again Christian after I became a professor, a professor of the law of evidence, a professor of proof. “But when the Lord Jesus Christ met me, He persuaded me by showing me clearly that there is such a thing as the evidence of faith that are not seen. “It is because of the evidence of things that are not seen, it is because you can make something out of nothing that I stand here today as vice president. “How possible can anyone say that the killing of women and children doesn’t matter because he is vice president or because he is president? How is that possible? “Certainly, it cannot be for a person who is born again. A renewed mind will know that there is justice, there is consequence even if there is no justice here on earth.” You too will bear the brunt of that problem Bishop Avenya in his speech, had stated that “when President Buhari came to campaign and requested us to appeal to our people to vote for him, he pointed at you and said ‘here is a Christian, my vice president’. “The point I’m trying to make is that a day is going to come when you as vice president, will be called to account for the injustices in our land, especially those perpetrated on smaller tribes that have no one to fight for them. “When the issues and the records are raised, you too will bear the brunt of that problem. So, as a Christian person, exonerate yourself from this situation. “I plead with you to be a Christian and a committed Christian, somebody who understands the law and one who speaks for justice. This is the way to conciliation and peace in our land. Let us stop this political thing that means practically nothing. Let us talk in truth.” Buhari’s administration has no Islamic agenda Reacting to the fear expressed by Dr. Magdalene Dura, the State Focal Person on Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, alleging that the ceaseless killings in the state was an agenda to Islamise the country, Osinbajo said:  “Some people have suggested that there is an agenda. “I heard the very eloquent words of Dr. Magdalene Dura who said this is an agenda. The suggestions that have been made that indeed, there is ethnic cleansing and all of that. “But let me say to you that although I do not accept that but the only way that we can prove that there is, indeed, no agenda is to protect the people, to fight for justice and to rebuild where there has been destruction. That’s the only way to prove it. “As I said to you, I do not accept and I do not believe that there is an agenda. No one will deliberately kill his own people. No one will do so. But we cannot bring back the dead but we can make life more bearable for the living. Why I am here “This is why my coming here today at the behest of the President is first, to look at the situation myself, to get a first hand view of the situation because the president has mandated me to take this on board and deal with the issues. “Second, to share with the governor and the stakeholders that we intend to do something, especially for those in the IDPs camps first,  and then, of course, for the other things that we need to do for the state.” In his speech, Governor Samuel Ortom, who commended the Federal Government for deploying more security and military personnel to the state to stem the herdsmen killings in the state, said his administration would continue to partner the government to end the  pogrom.

'I want surgery even if it costs my life': Teenage girl, whose deadly facial tumour has left her blind has been abandoned by her father after he became ashamed of her disfigurement

An 18-year-old girl with a life-threatening tumour covering one side of her face has been abandoned by her father after he became ashamed of her disfigurement.

The growth has left Salibunnisa, from the north Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, blind in one eye, as well as in excruciating pain every day.

Salibunnisa, who suffers from neurofibromatosis, is now forced to rely on her mother Mehrunissa, 40, who works multiple jobs just to make ends meet.

Unable to take the cruel torments of bullies, Salibunnisa dropped out of school, saying: 'People stare at me, say harsh words to me. The girls in my neighborhood ignore me because I don't look pretty.'

Doctors claim surgery is too risky, yet the teenager is facing loosing sight in her other eye unless she receives urgent treatment.

Salibunnisa, who lives as a recluse, said: 'I want to get my surgery done even if it costs my life. I am fed up with everything. I wish I could look normal.'

After receiving no financial help from the Government, Salibunnisa and her family are appealing to the public to assist them in funding her surgery.

'I want to get my surgery even if it costs my life'

Speaking with sparklingmediaconcept.blogspot.com's correspondence,of how others treat her, Salibunnisa said: 'I was bullied by fellow students at school. They would call me a ghost. Everyone made fun of me.

'After some time, I couldn't take it anymore and decided to drop out of school. But I never stopped my studies.'

Aside from the emotional strain, Salibunissa's tumours also cause her agonising physical pain.

She said: 'They hurt while bathing, wearing clothes, cleaning utensils, eating and cooking.

'When I watch TV, tears well up in my eye.'

Despite all everything she has endured, Salibunnisa still has positive hopes for the future.

She said: 'I am completely blinded in one eye. But I am going to continue my studies come what may.

'If I get some help with the treatment, I would like to complete my formal studies. I want to become a teacher.'

Please help me, I don't want to die like this'

Speaking of how surgeons refuse to operate on her daughter, Mehrunnisa, who works at a brick kiln, tearfully said: 'She is my only child. I can see her dying a slow death.

'Who would take care of her once I am gone? I want her to start looking like normal girls of her age.'

Doctors have told the family the entire treatment cost will come to around Rs 800,000 (£8,700).

Mehrunnisa said: 'I am working overtime to organise the funds, well aware of the fact I won't be able to put together such a massive some in my entire lifetime.'

A crowd-funding campaign has been set up on Ketto, which is India's version of GoFundMe, to help raise money for Salibunissa's treatment.

Mehrunnisa has tried seeking assistance from Government authorities and politicians, however, no one has extended a helping hand so far.

Salibunnisa, who believes she will one day have treatment, said: 'Once the surgery is done and I start to look like other girls, I want to apply makeup, dress up well and go out to face the world.

'I hate to sit inside in this enclosed room. Please help me, I don't want to get blinded in the other eye, too, and die like this.'

According to her mother, once Salibunissa's tumours are removed she will be free to live the life of a normal young woman.

Mehrunissa said: 'People mock her and call her a ghost.

'I try not to take her out often to save her from this cruel world.

A Beautiful Baby's Face Spoilt With 'Facial Tribal Marks'

See What An Innocent Little Girl Will Face When She Grows Up How A Beautiful Baby Girl’s Face Was Mutilated With Tribal Marks In The Name Of Tradition

Tribal marks are specific marks which comes in different shapes and sizes, commonly found on the face; which gives it another name of “facial marks”.

This Picture really got me wondering how the practice of tribal marks began in Nigeria, what was the motive behind it, was it a fashion trend, a beauty mark, for identification or trade? My discoveries will wow you.

According to history, tribal marks practice in Nigeria dates back to the colonial era when the colonial masters were capturing people and taking them to foreign countries for slavery. People started giving family members marks to identify and recognise them when if they were captured and later found.

Thus, these permanent marks became ways of identification passed on from family to family, members of the same village, identification of royal lineage and people from the same lineage. Different lineage, town, and village have different tribal marks, some with similarities and some totally different.

Reasons For Tribal Marks

Like mentioned above, tribal marks were mainly for identification. At some point in history, every clan/village have their distinct tribal marks and that made it easy for either of them to identify their kith and kin in the event of invasion, war, getting lost, or been captured for slavery.

But later, it became a form of creativity and tattoos on bodies, especially the women. In fact, at some point, women with better looking were valued possessions and were more expensively married.
Tribal marks are mostly given to people at a very young age most especially when they are babies. This is because, at that age, the child doesn’t have a say on decisions to giving him/her tribal marks.

The people who make these marks use either razor blades or sharp knives to cut the face and they have native dye, pigmentation or black paste usually from grounded charcoal dust which is put into the open wound to stain the marks, stop the bleeding and to make the wound

Types of Tribal Marks

Since tribal marks are used mainly to differentiate ethnic groups, they vary. There are marks on the cheeks, forehead, on the temple, under the chin and so on.
These marks can be in vertical lines, horizontal, or both. They could also come in slanted lines on both cheeks. These marks are in patterns based on the ethnic group of their bearer and have different meanings and different names.

Yoruba tribal marks is really an interesting feature of Yoruba nation; although no longer common or in vogue, it is fast disappearing due to extant laws, and international campaign.

There are various tribal marks, by different ethnic groups within the Yoruba nation: Ijesa (a town in Osun state) people are known by “pele.” Pele is a-four-horizontal-line; an-inch-long mark made on the cheeks on both sides of the mouth.

The Ondo natives of Ondo State are identified by half-an-inch-vertical lines on both sides of the nose down to the mouth (marks are thick and long) called “Soju”. Another tribal mark which can also be found in Ondo state is called “Jaju” which is just a single horizontal line on both sides of the face.

Other Yoruba ethnic groups have different types of facial marks; Ogbomosho natives of (Oyo State) are identified by multiple straight marks drawn from the head which curves on the lower chin straight to the corner of the mouth on both sides of the face called “Gombo”
Also prone to Ibadan, Oyo town and the Ogbomosho People (all these three towns are located in Oyo State) is a tribal mark called Abaja. Abaja is made up of four horizontally drawn lines with two or more vertical lines standing on the topmost horizontal line. Other Yoruba tribal marks

Other types of tribal marks that exist among the Yorubas includes Ture, Bamu, Keke, among others.

In Igboland, tribal marks were scarification process is called igbu ichi, and scar called ‘ichi’. However, tribal marks in Igboland cannot be compared to that of the Yorubas as they were much smaller in size and fewer in number of markings.

Like the Yorubas, the Hausas also have names for tribal marks like zube, yan baka, doddori, bille and so on.
