FG to dump cattle colonies, urges states to proffer solutions to herdsmen attacks

The federal government is set to back out from its proposed cattle colonies

- This was said to be the resolution of the 10-man working committee constituted few days ago by the National Economic Council

- The council has decided that states should proffer their own unique solutions to end attacks by herdsmen

A report by Daily Trust indicates that the 10-man working committee constituted few days ago by the National Economic Council to end attacks by herdsmen has decided that every state should design its own solutions.

According to the report, the committee proposed that the states should come up with the solutions after a rigorous consultative process with all stakeholders.

The committee, headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, comprises the governors of Adamawa, Benue, Ebonyi, Edo, Kaduna, Oyo, Plateau and Zamfara states.
The report quoted an unnamed presidency official saying that the committee had resolved that the federal government would not impose any solution on any states.

The official, who craved anonymity, said Vice President Osinbajo stated in one of its recent meetings that fears being expressed on the cattle colonies proposed to establish by the federal government were misplaced.

He said the committee also resolved to work with the federal government to strengthen law enforcement as well all security and intelligence agencies so that they could coordinate better in dealing with the crisis and preventing it from further escalation.
He said the committee also resolved that decisive military force be fully engaged to deal with bandits “behind the killings in parts of the country especially regarding the crisis often associated with herdsmen.”
“The role of bandits and suspected mercenaries in what has become known as herdsmen/farmers clashes and violence may have provoked the need for a fresh approach to dealing with the crisis,” the official was quoted as saying.
He also said that the military was already engaged and would soon begin to take decisive steps to address the situation.
He said the police and other security agencies had also been directed to recruit more rank and file to beef up security in the troubled spots in particular and the country in general.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has given a matching order to security agencies in the country to tackle the proliferation of small arms and light weapons across the country.
The president gave the directive on Thursday, January 25, at the National Security Council Meeting which he chaired in the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.
Speaking at the event, Buhari assured Nigerians that his government is doing everything possible to stem the tide of violence recorded frequently across the country.

Apple's California Self-Driving Car Fleet Grows to 27

The company reportedly registered two-dozen additional autonomous Lexus SUVs in California from July 2017 through this month after first receiving a permit to test three there in April.

Apple's fleet of self-driving vehicles has grown.

Bloomberg, citing the California Department of Motor Vehicles, on Thursday reported that Cupertino has registered 24 additional autonomous Lexus Rx450h sport-utility vehicles in the Golden State since first receiving a permit to test three of them in the state in April 2017.

That brings Apple's California autonomous vehicle test fleet to 27 vehicles. The company reportedly registered those two-dozen additional autonomous Lexus SUVs from July 2017 through this month.

Apple did not immediately respond to PCMag's request for comment about the expansion, and declined to offer a statement when contacted by Bloomberg.

Though Apple is characteristically tight-lipped about new products in its pipeline, CEO Tim Cook in June acknowledged that the company is working on autonomous systems, which could be used for self-driving cars.

"Autonomy is something that's incredibly exciting for us, but we'll see where it takes us," Cook said at the time. "We're not really saying, from a product point of view, what we will do, but we are being straightforward that it's a core technology that we view as very important."

Those remarks followed rumors in late 2016 that Apple had "drastically scaled back" its so-called "Project Titan" car team, cutting hundreds of jobs, and switched its focus to creating software so it can potentially partner with existing carmakers, rather than produce its own vehicle.

Apple's autonomous fleet, while growing, still pales in comparison to rival Waymo's. Google parent company Alphabet's autonomous car unit has vehicles on the road in six states, according to Bloomberg. Waymo in November announced that a subset of its autonomous vehicles will operate by themselves—sans a human test driver behind the wheel—in the Phoenix metro region.

Surprising Secrets of a married couple

Are u married or just preparing for marriage? Pls read dis:
WHAT A MOTHER TOLD HER SON A
DAY BEFORE HIS WEDDING
Mummy’s boy, you are now a man. Tomorrow
you will have a new mother, a new cook and a new person to share all your secrets with. It will no longer be me but her.
Love your new mum even more than you love me. Before you walk into her arms forever, let me give you some words to guide you.
There was a day I was arguing with your father.
We were screaming, Tempers were high. I was angry and He was angry. Then I called him an idiot! He was shocked,
He looked at me asking
how dare I call him that. Immediately I started calling him idiot, fool, stupid, crazy; I called him all sort of name.
Guess what he did? He didn’t raise his hands to hit me. He just walked away, banging the door as he went out.
My Son, If your father had hit me and destroyed my eyes, how will you feel sitting here with me today? How will you regard him as your father?
Would you have been proud of him or would
you be blaming me for calling him names?
Never hit your wife! No matter the provocation
just walk away and things will be normal.
Whenever she offends you, think of this story I
just told you, it could have been your mum!
After he left, I was filled with guilt. We slept on same bed that night and I went to him the next day.
I pleaded with him, I did all I could to show am sorry and he forgave me. That day I cooked his favourite food, yes you know he loves Pounded yam & Vegetable soup right?
After that day, I never called him names, my respect for him was ten times stronger.
There is something very important you must always do, my son listen very carefully, defend your wife. When she is under pressure, stand by her. If your friends hates her, it is your duty to make them see her as a Queen. Your Uncle, I mean Uncle Yusuf, never liked me.
But Ur father was always supportive until his perception changed.
There was a day your Father was going to host the owner of his company and friends. They were three of them.
That day I was in the
kitchen cooking for them and your father went to buy drinks.
When the table was set and food was served.
Everyone started eating. Then I
remembered I did not add salt in the food. I
was embarrassed.
Your father tasted the food and looked at me. He immediately turned to the guests. He told them that he instructed his wife last month not to add salt whenever she is cooking because of some problem with his body.
He said it in a funny way and everyone laughed!
The guests understood and he asked me to
bring salt and everyone added according to their taste. He managed to eat the food without salt.
After the guest left, he went on his knees and
asked God to forgive him for lying.
Your wife is like a baby, sometimes she don’t
know what to say or do. Stand up and speak for her!
Now let me talk to you about Sex. You see Sex
is a wonderful thing.
Do not be surprised if your wife enjoy and need Sex more than you do.
There were days, I needed Sex more than your father and there were days he needed it more than me but the important thing is to always try to satisfy the other when they need you.
Don’t always think of your self.
There was a time things were hard and I
needed to do two jobs to support your father.
One night I was so tired. When I got to bed he was in the mood. He try to make love to me and I didn’t refuse him. I was tired but I felt I needed to be there when he needs me.
When he tried undressing me, he saw my look and he stopped. He asked what was wrong and I said nothing. But he understand me better.
He stopped and then started telling me stories until I fell asleep.
My son, Sex is best enjoyed when the two
parties are physically and mentally ready for it.
Sometimes, read your wife and understand her.
Make it a habit to go anywhere with your wife. Beside your job, move around with her.
If anyone invite you to his house and told you not to come with your wife then be very careful.
Use wisdom.
I know you love mummy… I know you will tell me all your problems. But now things will be different.
Let your wife be the first to know before me. Let her be the first to see before me.
When you have problems with her don’t run to me immediately.
Wait for a day to pass and then talk to her about it. Pray about it.
Report her to nobody but talk issues out within yourself.
Finally, don’t forget to come and visit me with
your wife every month!
I know you will have a happy home.
You will always be mummy’s boy.
God will bless Ur
home.
Pls don't forget God, pray & seek His
assistance always.

Soyinka: all lives are equal, but a cow’s is more equal than others

Nobel Laureate Prof. WOLE SOYINKA, in this piece titled ‘Impunity rides again’, flays the herdsmen killings in Benue State. Soyinka picks holes in the Federal Government’s reaction to the massacre, which he describes as history repeating itself.
It is happening all over again. History is repeating itself and, alas, within such an agonisingly short span of time. How often must we warn against the enervating lure of appeasement in face of aggression and will to dominate! I do not hesitate to draw attention to Volume III of my INTERVENTION Series, and to the chapter on The Unappeasable Price of Appeasement. There is little to add, but it does appear that even the tragically fulfilled warnings of the past leave no impression on leadership, not even when identical signs of impending cardiac arrest loom over the nation. Boko Haram was still at that stage of putative probes when cries of alarm emerged. Then the fashion ideologues of society deployed their distancing turns of phrase to rationalise what were so obviously discernable as an agenda of ruthless fundamentalism and internal domination. Boko Haram was a product of social inequities, they preached – one even chortled: We stand for justice, so we are all Boko Haram! We warned that – yes indeed – the inequities of society were indeed part of the story, but why do you close your eyes against other, and more critical malfunctions of the human mind, such as theocratic lunacy? Now it is happening again. The nation is being smothered in Vaseline when the diagnosis is so clearly – cancer!
We have been here before – now, ‘before’ is back with a vengeance. President Goodluck Jonathan refused to accept that marauders had carried off the nation’s daughters; President Muhammed Buhari and his government – including his Inspector-General of Police – in near identical denial, appear to believe that killer herdsmen who strike again and again at will from one corner of the nation to the other, are merely hot-tempered citizens whose scraps occasionally degenerate into “communal clashes” – I believe I have summarised him accurately. The marauders are naughty children who can be admonished, paternalistically, into good neighbourly conduct. Sometimes of course, the killers were also said be non-Nigerians after all. The contradictions are mind-boggling.
First the active policy of appeasement, then the language of endorsement. El Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, proudly announced that, on assuming office, he had raised a peace committee and successfully traced the herdsmen to locations outside Nigerian borders. He then made payments to them from state coffers to cure them of their homicidal urge which, according to these herdsmen, were reprisals for some ancient history and the loss of cattle through rustling. The public was up in arms against this astonishing revelation. I could only call to mind a statement by the same El Rufai after a prior election which led to a rampage in parts of the nation, and cost even the lives of National Youth Service corpers. They were hunted down by aggrieved mobs and even states had to organize rescue missions for their citizens. Countering protests that the nation owed a special duty of protection to her youth, especially those who are co-opted to serve the nation in any capacity, El Rufai’s comment then was: No life is more important than another. Today, that statement needs to be adjusted, to read perhaps – apologies to George Orwell: “All lives are equal, but a cow’s is more equal than others.”
This seems to be the government view, one that, overtly or by implication, is being amplified through act and pronouncement, through clamorous absence, by this administration. It appears to have infected even my good friend and highly capable Minister, Audu Ogbeh, however insidiously. What else does one make of his statements in an interview where he generously lays the blame for ongoing killings everywhere but at the feet of the actual perpetrators! His words, as carried by The Nation Newspapers:
“The inability of the government to pay attention to herdsmen and cow farming, unlike other developed countries, contributed to the killings.”
The Minister continued: “Over the years, we have not done much to look seriously into the issue of livestock development in the country….we may have done enough for the rice farmer, the cassava farmer, the maize farmer, the cocoa farmer, but we haven’t done enough for herdsmen, and that inability and omission on our part is resulting in the crisis we are witnessing today.”
No, no, not so, Audu! It is true that I called upon the government a week ago to stop passing the buck over the petroleum situation. I assure you however that I never intended that a reverse policy should lead to exonerating – or appearing to exonerate – mass killers, rapists and economic saboteurs – saboteurs, since their conduct subverts the efforts of others to economically secure their own existence, drives other producers off their land in fear and terror. This promises the same plague of starvation that afflicts zones of conflict all over this continent where liberally sown landmines prevent farmers from venturing near their prime source, the farm, often their only source of livelihood, and has created a whole population of amputees. At least, those victims in Angola, Mozambique and other former war theatres, mostly lived to tell the tale. These herdsmen, arrogant and unconscionable, have adopted a scorched-earth policy, so that those other producers – the cassava, cocoa, sorghum, rice etc farmers are brutally expelled from farm and dwelling.
Government neglect? You may not have intended it, but you made it sound like the full story. I applaud the plans of your ministry, I am in a position to know that much thought – and practical steps – have gone into long term plans for bringing about the creation of ‘ranches’, ‘colonies’ – whatever the name – including the special cultivation of fodder for animal feed and so on and on. However, the present national outrage is over impunity. It rejects the right of any set of people, for whatever reason, to take arms against their fellow men and women, to acknowledge their exploits in boastful and justifying accents and, in effect, promise more of the same as long as their terms and demands are not met. In plain language, they have declared war against the nation, and their weapon is undiluted terror. Why have they been permitted to become a menace to the rest of us? That is the issue!
Permit me to remind you that, early in 2016, an even more hideous massacre was perpetrated by this same Murder Incorporated – that is, a numerical climax to what had been a series across a number of Middle Belt and neighbouring states, with Benue taking the brunt of the butchery. A peace meeting was called, attended by the state government and security agencies of the nation, including the Inspector General of Police. This group attended – according to reports – with AK47s and other weapons of mass intimidation visible under their garments. They were neither disarmed nor turned back. They freely admitted the killings but justified them by claims that they had lost their cattle to the host community. It is important to emphasize that none of their spokesmen referred to any government neglect, such as refusal to pay subsidy for their cows or failure to accord them the same facilities that had been extended to cassava or millet farmers. Such are the monstrous beginnings of the culture of impunity. We are reaping, yet again, the consequences of such tolerance of the intolerable. Yes, there indeed the government is culpable, definitely guilty of “looking the other way”. Indeed, it must be held complicit.
This question is now current, and justified: just when is terror? I am not aware that IPOB came anywhere close to this homicidal propensity and will to dominance before it was declared a terrorist organisation. The international community rightly refused to go along with such an absurdity. For the avoidance of doubt, let me state right here, and yet again, that IPOB leadership is its own worst enemy. It repels public empathy, indeed, I suspect that it deliberately cultivates an obnoxious image, especially among its internet mouthers who make rational discourse impossible. However, as we pointed out at the time, the conduct of that movement, even at its most extreme, could by no means be reckoned as terrorism. By contrast, how do we categorize Myeti? How do we assess a mental state that cannot distinguish between a stolen cow – which is always recoverable – and human life, which is not. Villages have been depopulated far wider than those outside their operational zones can conceive. They swoop on sleeping settlements, kill and strut. They glory in their seeming supremacy. Cocoa farmers do not kill when there is a cocoa blight. Rice farmers, cassava and tomato farmers do not burn. The herdsmen cynically dredge up decades-old affronts – they did at the 2016 Benue “peace meeting” to justify the killings of innocents in the present – These crimes are treated like the norm. Once again, the nation is being massaged by specious rationalisations while the rampage intensifies and the spread spirals out of control. When we open the dailies tomorrow morning, there is certain to have been a new body count, to be followed by the arrogant justification of the Myeti Allah.
The warnings pile up, the distress signals have turned into a prolonged howl of despair and rage. The answer is not to be found in pietistic appeals to victims to avoid ‘hate language’ and divisive attributions. The sustained, killing monologue of the herdsmen is what is at issue. It must be curbed, decisively and without further evasiveness.
Yes, Jonathan only saw ‘ghosts’ when Boko Haram was already excising swathes of territory from the nation space and abducting school pupils. The ghosts of Jonathan seem poised to haunt the tenure of Mohammed Buhari.

Why herdsmen are killing our people, by governor

Killer-herdsmen have extended their bloody campaign to Taraba State, killing 55 people in Lau Local Government Area.
About 200 homes and huge piles of foodstuff were destroyed. Many people are missing in the attacks, which began last weekend.
Twenty-five bodies were recovered and given a mass burial on Tuesday when reporters and Bala Dan Abu, a media assistant to Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku, visited the area.
Policemen and soldiers cordoned off the area as the burial was hurriedly done by angry youths amid fear of the attackers coming for them.
“You know, I don’t like witnessing a funeral; what more, a mass burial like this,” Bala said, fighting back tears.
The affected area was deserted like a ghost town. Policemen and soldiers were on patrol.
Those buried were mostly children, women and elderly persons. Most of the bodies were recovered from burnt houses, bush paths and farmlands. The bodies had swollen.
Sources said some of the victims tried to escape from the marauders, but were hacked down by another set of herdsmen who ambushed them in large numbers.
The invaders used mostly “sophisticated guns and poisoned knives” to carry out the massacre, described by many as “genocide”.
Those who survived the herdsmen’s bullets are taking refuge in Abari, a settlement.
The bereaved spoke of their harrowing experiences when reporters visited the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
“Herdsmen are killing people in Lau,” Governor Darius Ishaku told The Nation on telephone on Tuesday night.
Ishaku attributed killings by Fulani herdsmen in some parts of the country, to a “drive for territorial control”.
He blamed the elite for masterminding the violence for their political and economic interests. He urged Nigerians to pray for the country.
Taraba State Police Command confirmed the killings. Spokesman David Misal said the situation was calm yesterday.
Misal, who had earlier reported the casualty figures as 12 when the attack began, said “enough security personnel have been deployed in the area”. What we are doing now is to build confidence in the people.”
The Lau incident is the latest act of unprovoked aggression against communities in Taraba State by Fulani herdsmen.
On his facebook page yesterday, Dan Abu posted a lamentation:
He said: “Tears flowed freely on Tuesday in several communities in Lau, Taraba State, as youths in the area buried 25 corpses of their parents and children murdered last weekend by Fulani herdsmen who invaded their villages.
“Most of those killed were women, children and the aged who could not escape the gun and knife wielding herdsmen who invaded their communities at about 3pm on Friday, January 5.
“At least 25 corpses recovered from burnt houses, bush paths and nearby farms where the victims tried to hide from the killer Fulani herdsmen were buried on Tuesday.
“A combined team of armed soldiers and police men provided them security cover to enable them complete the funeral rites.
“Many of the youths spoke of their missing relations, burnt houses, farms, food items and other valuables as they sobbed profusely while talking to a group of jourlaists that visited them in Abari where most of those who survived the attacks escaped to.
“The Lau attack is the latest act of unprovoked aggression against communities in Taraba State by Fulani herdsmen. No fewer than 55 lives were lost, according to the accounts of the villagers while over 200 houses were burnt.”
Taraba State Commissioner of Police, David Akinremi, on Tuesday visited the affected area to see things for himself. Although no arrest were made. The police chief said “the attackers came from neighbouring Adamawa State, where they are already at war with the Bachama ethnic group.”
Some victims lamented their ordeals to this medium. David Jonathan, a cleric from Katebu tribe, in an emotion-laden voice, said “we don’t deserve this, because we didn’t provoke anyone.”

IG Idris: police to probe Miyetti Allah’s role in killings

Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris yesterday promised to probe all allegations raised against the Miyetti Allah Katah Houre by the Benue State government following the killings by Fulani herdsmen.
The IG also said the allegation by Governor Samuel Ortom that killer-herdsmen launched their attack from neiggbouring Nasarawa State would be investigated Governor Tanko Al-Makura has denied the claim.
Idris spoke at a stakeholders meeting in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on his arrival to take charge of security in the state.
Ortom said the dead toll had risen to 73 after two more bodies were found in the bush yesterday.
He said some militia men were still in camp in Tungwa,Awe Local Government Area  of Nasarawa State
Idris apologised for his widely criticised statement that the killings arose from” communal clashes”.
He said 10 mobile police units had been stationed in Benue to track the killers and bring them to justice.
The governor donated five Hilux vans for the operation.
Police spokesman Jimoh Moshood, in a statement reaffirmed that the I-G was moving with additional five units of Police Mobile Force, making 10 units deployed in Benue.
“More units of the Police Special Forces, Counter Terrorism Units, and Conventional Policemen are already being deployed to the State to comply in totality with the presidential order.
“The full weight of the law will be applied on anyone arrested for being responsible for the mayhem in the affected areas in the state.
“The commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensure law and order and protection of lives and property of all Nigerians throughout the country remains unequivocal and unwavering,” he said.
Flags have been flying at half mast in the state after the government declared three days of mourning which will end today with the mass burial of the 73 bodies. The burial will be preceded by a church service.
Today has been declared a work-free day in the state. Civil servants have been closing from work at 1.pm since Tuesday.
It was learnt that there was “pressure from above” on Ortom to shelve today’s mass burial of the victims killed in Guma and Logo local government areas.
Sources said some government officials in Abuja were not comfortable with the mass burial arrangement and live broadcast of the funeral by the international media.
.But an aide to the governor said yesterday Ortom stood his ground to ahead with the programme.

Farmers-Herdsmen Clashes: Army Deploys Special Forces To Three States

By The Eagle Online On Jan 9, 2018

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, says the Nigerian Army has deployed troops to help stem the clashes between farmers and herdsmen across three states and stabilise them.

Buratai said this at the official inauguration of the Nigerian Army Farms and Ranch and Presentation of Farm Implements to the Army by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, in Giri on Tuesday.

He listed the states where the troops had been sent to as Benue, Taraba and Nasarawa, noting that the Army would support the Federal Government to stem the clashes.

According to him, once the nation attains food security, all other forms of insecurity, including insurgency in the North East, militancy, kidnapping and other forms of security issues would be reduced.

Buratai said the Barracks Initiative Programme, which was initiated by him, was aimed at cultivating the culture of investment in agricultural value chain by officers and soldiers of the Army and their families, as well as providing jobs for the youth in the barracks.

He said: “As at today, we have almost 1000 herds of cattle within the Nigerian Army Barracks and formations. This is one of the ranches scattered in all the Nigerian Army formations.

“We are ready to support the Federal Government to stabilise the farmers’ herdsmen clashes across the country.

“We are tasking our Special Forces to ensure that everywhere they are deployed across the country at short notice, they stem the conflict.

“We have properly deployed across Benue, Taraba and Nasarawa States within the axis where we have the conflict. Once there is peace, the development on agriculture will thrive for the good of our country.

“Areas such as ranching, fisheries, poultry, production for eggs and meat, green houses and plantation are now practised in most barracks of the Nigerian Army.”

Nigerian Lady Slapped a Police Officer For Doing This to Her

A brave Nigerian woman using the handle @annie_vams has narrated on Twitter how she slapped a policeman who had the effrontery to touch her bumbum in public.
The woman who obviously didn’t think about the consequences of her actions before she did it, slapped him anyway and since she was able to come online to narrate the entire story with a fine face, it can be said that the officer was left dumbfounded as he realized he had done wrong.
She wrote: “More some of you in this lagos are mad.
Cos you’re an officer with a gun doesn’t give you the stupid guts to slap my ass.
Slapping that police man this evening will teach him never to mis use his power again.
I only stepped out to get deodorant now i’m back with anger.
Useless man!”

CHRISTMAS MENTALITY

CHRISTMAS MENTALITY
Permit me to say that Xmas is not a time to meet up with ur plans for the year and as a result you are ready to do all kinds of atrocities in order to satisfy your selfish desires. I have heard so many complains and quarrel between partners just cos their boyfriend couldn't afford to give them money for Xmas celebration.
* A lady threating to end her relationship cos she needs 50k for Xmas shopping. Pls sis. We are not celebrating you the reason for d celebration is JESUS CHRIST.
* A man wants to travel to his village with a new Jeep or the latest car so even if it means to kill someone he will do that. Pls. bro are we celebrating you?? Jesus is the reason for the celebration!
* Ladies running after sugar daddy's cos Brazilian hair and latest wig. Pls. sisters are we celebrating you? The reason for the celebration is Jesus Christ!
* Wives fighting husbands cos they need money for Xmas shopping yes is good to give ur family money for Xmas but if he has got no money pls manage with him. Wives are we celebrating you? Jesus Christ is the reason for the celebration!
* Our brothers from the East who wants to show off in the village through blood money. Pls are we celebrating you? Jesus Christ is the reason for the celebration!
CHRISTMAS IS A TIME TO SHOW LOVE TO PEOPLE AROUND YOU. BUT PLS DON'T MAKE IT A DO OR DIE AFFAIR. IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH SHARE WITH OTHER AND IF DON'T HAVE MANAGE WHAT IS AVAILABLE. IT IS BUT JUST A ONE DAY CELEBRATION. DON'T COMMIT ANY EVIL IN THIS EVENT. GOD WILL GRANT US LAST MINUTE UNCOMMON FAVOUR THIS XMAS IN JESUS NAME.

2019: Female professor declares presidential ambition

As 2019 general elections draws close, a professor of Language and Communication Arts at the Rivers state University of Education, Olufumilayo Adesanya-Davies, has announced his intention to contest the presidential election.
Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Tuesday, Professor Adesanya-Davies, who hailed from Ira town, Kwara state, said that she had consulted widely before making her intention public.
The aspirant, who said that the decision of the Federal Government to make the forms free for women aspirants also boosted her interest in the race.
She used the occasion to counselled Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that the solution to current challenges in the country was in the hands of women.
“I am aspiring to be the next president of Nigeria . I am out to put laughter of joy on the mouth of all. I have discussed this with the former presidential candidate, Sarah Jubril, who incidentally is from Kwara state. Her reaction was that ‘if a miracle like this will ever happen, we have paid the price in Kwara state and it is going to happen in the state.
“She said that Nigeria has opened the ground for Nigerian women, adding that my ticket is that of Nigeria, as the presidential form is free for women.
“Historically, we will recall in 2015 another woman presidential candidate came. She floated a party called the KOWA party. Her name is Prof Remi Sonaya, she was my lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo Univerity (OAU).
“2015 was when I first thought about being a presidential aspirant. This is for the main reason that I was born October 15th and I got married at October 15th . That time i said with President Goodluck Jonathan in the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) i was going to be his running mate. I was sending text messages to him. I told him to let Vice President Nnamadi Sambo step down for him to be successful but he did not listen to me.
“But delay is not denial, that is why I am staging a comeback. I have done some consultations. The first person to put a call through was Patience Jonathan. I told her that I am picking the presidential form this time around and she endorsed my decision.
“Our first thanks will go to the nation – Nigeria that says the ladies could pick our forms politically at every levels. Nigeria is confident that the current challenges in the country can only be tackled by the women.
“However, we are still keeping the party under which place we will aspire under close wraps. Later on will be announcing that through the press. We don’t have a platfom yet. We are just saying that officially, this is a presidential aspirant for 2019 and later we will take it to the next level.
“As time goes on and we are taking counsel from the youths, the family, mothers and the children we will declare on which platform the next first female president will be coming from.”
On Buhari, Prof Adesanya-Davies said: “The test of maturity is taking responsibility for your irresponsibility. You take a decision and you gonna allow it to sail through. A four old preganancy cannot be delivered. You have to be patient and quietly allow for delivery for nine months. We were the one that did the voting, we accepted the change and now the change is here.
“I will advise Nigerians to calm down for President Muhammadu Buhari. Also the man too is not sleepin. He is not resting. Age too is not on his side. We did all the mathematics and we saw it and opted for it. So that he had to travel for 100 days to take care of his health is not his fault. It is age and we said we believe in him.
“Major problem with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is that it does not want to do the literature review. We in the academics always build from where we are coming from for finished and unfinished projects.
“Buhari’s governance had to take positive reminiscences to Goodluck Jonathan. An old man cannot combine minister for petroleum ministry with the presidency and it will work. We need them to work hard and get the technocrats to do their jobs again.”
