Police are known to be every man's friend. It is also known to be out maintain peace, order and security but why then harass, molest, extort money from the innocent souls?
I am writing this because of the harassment, extortion, molestation that we encounter this evening(15th December 2017), and i may like the Inspector General (I.G) of police to read this or hear this if not the Divisional Police Officer (D.P.O). For my own little understanding if the police arrived a place to arrest, i think they are to ask those around the place to first identify themselves, secondly, they will ask them to search themselves not even them the police, thirdly if they find them with implicative thing(s), that is where you will be taken for explanations.
Today been the 15th of December, 2017,at exactly 21:49pm (9:49pm) police at the central police station Gboko came at a shop which is shop number two at OCKAM CONSTRUCTION COMPANY before Fidei Polytechnic, Gboko and arrest people which i was included, i was included in the sence that i came back from an outside work then i branch to buy a sachet water because i was tasty, immediately the police arrived the place with two of the MAN 'O' WAR and asked us not to move, which we respected, they asked us not to talk which we did, the next thing is to push us inside the two hilux van that conveyed them including the owner of the shop(Eddie Tarbo) , leaving the shop wide open, without asking us anything,they move with us to Atonko market(for those who are familiar) and arrest some boys sitting right infront of there house and make a 'U' turn back and face in town, even one of the MAN 'O' WAR asked me that if i have #2,000 naira i should bare myself here before they will take us to the station which i ignor it, they search and removed my #1,000 naira which am supposed to pay as the remaining balance for the mass production of CD plates 'IMONGO I ONKASEV TIV' for tomorrow's Tiv day celebration at J. S Tarka grave the Secretariat of the 'MZOUGH U TIV' World wide and pushed me down and later infront stop to cross check the people they have arrested and collect their hard eared little change they are having including the owner of the shop#Eddie Tarbo, that i earlier mentioned which he demands to talk which the police did not allow him on till he removed his identification Card (I.D) as a company driver before he was allowed to talk, after he said he came back from 'TAKUM' in Taraba State just this evening to take his family home, they came and arrested him with no reason at all, they(The police) now talk within themselves and asked him to fuel their vehicle, so the masses are now in charge of fuelling police vehicles? Is from there they bare him back to his shop, what happened if things are been stollen from the shop? What about the company's car?
So i want to ask the I.G of police, commissioner of police likewise the D.P.O of Gboko that, if the arrest of that kind is under the law and order, and if it is under the law claiming we are outside under past time, when was it announced in Gboko not to be outside even at your shop at that hour (9:49pm)?,Are the police incharge to decide and search anybody moving or came to arrest? Does the MAN 'O' WAR also among or known in the Federal Republic of Nigeria as the true accepted security of this great Country Nigeria? If 'YES' When was it accepted by the government of the federation? If 'NO' Why is the police using them to molest, extort money and intimidate the innocent souls? And if 'NO' Why is the police themselves promoting arm robbery?
I also come to think and asked myself, Are they doing it to get money for the forth coming Christmas or for the said security of the people? And if for the security why the exrortion? Or to enjoy with their family? If it is for the both, how clean is the money you forcedly collected from a poor Nigerian? Will it accompany a good prayer with it and on your head?
I am with deep pains to write this piece of writing and i may like the police I.G, Commissioner of police, and the D.P.O in charge of Gboko to hear and read this, and by extent the Human Rights Commission (HRC) to hear and read it.
Are we the masses not to have a say again? Others that were not having anything in their pocket what will be the report of the police at the station on the offence they have committed? What type of offence or statement will they be taken at the station?
I want the federal government to also see the need to restructure the police force as they are out to extort money, harrass,molest and extort money from the masses,or innocent ones. I know some of them that came for the operation. There is an a dirge that says 'Seen is believing' bellow is what happened.
